The night feels suitable to open one of those wines that simply everyone looks after when looking at a wine list. Miha Batič‘s Angel selekcija white, a blend of grapes matured in barriques and produced only in the best vintages.
Grapes for this iconic blend are coming from more than thirty years old vines, looked after biodynamic principles as in due matter at the Batič family. All varieties were hand-harvested and vinified separately. Maceration times differed, between one to five days.
Following gentle pressing young wines were laid to rest in Slavonian barriques for three years. Finally, they were assembled and bottled following the moon cycle without filtration.
This resulted in an extractive, golden yellow colour with a dense texture.
The bouquet is intense, seductive. We detect apple compote, ripe pineapple, passion fruit, tepka pear, honey, vanilla, marzipan, rosemary. As well as cedar, caramel, toffee, cocoa butter, white pepper and tea.
The wine is dry, with an oily texture and at the same time refreshing and mineral salty. It also shows a slight spiciness.
Its flavours reveal mainly notes of honey, chestnut, vanilla, cinnamon and notes of ripe fruit. A wine that has a really intense and lasting taste, with a vigorous body and pronounced elegance.
A bottle will cost you approximately 27 Eur and you can order it at Koželj, Vinoteka Sodček, Faladur, TuamV, Zagriz, 13vol and Wevino.
