It is time we return to the Cigoj family to taste their Malvazija. A wine produced with protective winemaking methods to express all of the beautiful scents of this variety.
Grapes have been hand-harvested from a vineyard planted in flysch at the shores of lake Vogršček, which absorbs the heat and acts as a glass that projects sun rays to the vines. The production follows simple methods of destemming and crushing, with fermentation in stainless vats for one year before its final bottling.
This results in a crystal clear, strawy yellow coloured wine with denser viscosity.
Its aromas are intense. We catch scents of Jonagold apple, pineapple, gooseberry, acacia flower and slight hints of Mediterranean herbs.
The taste is soft, warm, at the same time refreshing and with a pronounced mineral aftertaste.
Cigoj’s Malvazija is an intense, medium-bodied wine with a reasonably lasting persistency that packs an elegant aftertaste.
A bottle will cost you approximately 8 Eur, and you can order it at Vinoteka Sodček.
