We’re returning today to Anita and Danilo Mavrič, as we’d like to have a look at their white Cuvee, which has been given the name Gigi. It is a blend of 20 % Rebula, 40 % Sauvignon Vert and 40 % Malvazija that matures in used oak.
It is always nice to return to the Mavrič family as both Anita and Danilo are positive figures that irradiate warmth. And such are their wines, powerful, warm yet friendly and modest.
6 dni maceracije zrelega grozdja. Vino gre v rabljene sode za 1 leto in je stekleničeno brez filtracije
Selected ripe bunches were destemmed and crushed. The mash was then macerated for six days. After a gentle pressing, the juice was racked into used oak barrels where it matured for the next year. Finally, it was bottled without filtration and the resulting wine is impressive!
Gigi presents to us wearing a crystal clear, golden yellow colour with a dense, slowly swirling texture.
The bouquet is delicate and ripe. We identify roasted apples, grapefruit, candied orange, and gentle hints of wood that turn into nutmeg, roasted almonds, yeast, sweet spices and fresh Mediterranean herbs.
The taste is intense and acts warm. Acidity stands out slightly and cleans our palate, leaving perceptions of minerality and a slight feel of tannins. An elegant and structured wine, with a lasting and harmonious aftertaste.
A wine that will easily cope with time for the next five to seven years. A bottle will cost you approximately 16 Eur and you can order it by contacting the winemaker at +386 41 320 916 or by sending an email to vinarstvo.mavric@siol.net.
