It is time we return to the Gjerkeš family. To the slopes of Goričko where we will look at their traditionally produced Chardonnay.

Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and left to macerate in the press overnight. After the juice is settled they rack it in stainless vats on lees where alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures starts. The wine conducts also malolactic fermentation and is then used to vinify new oak barrels. Just for a month, not to impact too much of flavours to the final wine.

This Chardonnay dons a strawy yellow colour with a golden hue and dense texture.

Aromas are intense and fine, we detect white peach, apple, lemon peel and almond blossom. Slowly the effect of oak contact and vinification process starts to speak, with a delicate note of vanilla, marzipan, a touch of butter and a hint of nuts.

A dry expression with perceivable softness, with crisp freshness and minerality. A full-bodied wine of elegance where flavours of oak come to the fore, but act mostly as a supportive medium that elevates the variety.

A wine that will please and further refine for the next three years at least. A bottle will cost you approximately 15 Eur and you can order it by contacting the winemaker at +386 41 623 125 or sending an e-mail to info@vina-gjerkes.com.
