It is time for some Slovene Styria Argo, which we will be tasting through Joannes Protner‘s Argo rose. A lovely rose which they launched this spring and combines Blaufränkisch and Žametovka.

The production follows grape selection and gentle, whole-bunch pressing with protective methods. The juice is racked into stainless vats where it ferments at controlled temperatures for six months. Finally, come Spring, it is released to the market.

The idea to use Argo or jargon on the label is coming from a region with a very distinctive language. Such is the specificity it inspired a young lady to launch its own Instagram profile, now having over 34k followers. Ana Protner contacted her and they agreed to cooperate. They prepared some unique quotes which we can see now on labels. Today’s wine has “Poj sem, da te kušnem.” (Come here so that I kiss you).

Argo rose shows arystal clear, bright pink colour with a shade of amber and fairly dense texture.

Its bouquet is delicate and fruit-driven. We perceive cranberries, raspberries, as well as rose petals and notes of grass.

It is on the off-dry side but is well refreshing and mineral, resulting in a balanced wine. The taste is intense, relatively well structured, elegant and of medium persistency, mostly driving flavours of red fruit and freshness.

A bottle will cost you a little less than 10 Eur and you can order it at Fontana vin.
