Boštjan Protner is the guy you’ll find around festivals, often showing his Riesling “tattoo”, and yes, one could easily say riesling runs through the veins of the Protner family.
Grapes for this expression of Riesling are coming from the slope Celestrina, which is planted in marlstone at steep slopes with inclines of 20 to 35 %. Bunches were handpicked at the beginning of October.
Whole bunches were pressed, followed by must fermenting in stainless vats for 2 months, with maturation for 10 months in 2.000-litre oak barrels, with gross filtration before bottling.
This expresses in a Riesling of olden yellow colour and dense texture.
It boasts an intense aroma of yellow apple, quince, honey melon, nutmeg, white pepper, wood, butter, vanilla and cinnamon, and look at the notes of kerosene touched herbs with hints reminding oregano.
A dry wine of distinctive softness, with a fair warmness that refreshes us, leaving a delicious mineral taste. A medium, fairly structured wine with an intense and fairly persistent taste is an elegant wine in which the perceptions of overripe yellow fruit, butter, nutmeg, and kerosene are repeated.
A bottle will cost you approximately 12 Eur, and you can order it at the number 386 (0)41 654 305 at their website or eVino.
