We just got back from a beautiful tasting at the Piro wine cellar, and I really need to share this with you. We’ll try to revive what we felt when tasting their Chardonnay Supreme. A wine produced only in selected vintages, expressing one of their most exquisite renditions of Chardonnay.
Grapes for the Chardonnay Supreme were hand-harvested at the Bosc plot, one of their most prominent. Whole bunches were laid in a pneumatic press. After gentle pressing at controlled temperatures, the most was racked into stainless vats where it fermented at controlled temperatures steering constantly fine lees. After ten months, it was bottled after coarse filtration.
This expresses in a cristal clear, golden yellow rendition of Chardonnay with dense texture.
Aromas are intense and sophisticated, expressing peach, quince, yellow apple and yellow plum, lemon pee, a touch of thyme, and sun whitened marl.
Its taste is dry, expressively soft and fairly warm. With crisp freshness and minerality, leading its character. An elegant, full-bodied wine with a long-lasting aftertaste where ripe apple and peach with hints of marzipan keeps on spoiling us.
A wine with the potential to age for at least the next five to seven years. A bottle will cost you approximately 12 Eur, and it is available by contacting the winemaker at +386 40 348 472 or sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also get some older vintages at Koželj.
