Time to look at another expression of Vinakoper‘s Refošk Rex Fuscus bottled in a traditional bottle. They revived with launching this wine. An immediate eye-catcher.
Grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed, and then the mash macerated for up to ten days at temperatures between twenty-five and twenty-eight ° Celsius. After it conducted malolactic conversion, it matured for six years in large oak barrels.
This results in a Refosco of ruby red colour with a purple border. It is pretty dense, and we observe how it colours the glass walls when it swirls.
Its bouquet is intense and refined. We detect ripe berries, sour cherries, blackberries, also raspberry and black currant. Finishing with a note of violet, tobacco butter and fern.
A dry wine of perceivable softness, crisp freshness and a mineral saltiness. Its youthful tannins are slowly rounding off—an intense wine of structure with elegant persistency. Flavours of cherries and cranberries, violets and fern are repeated in the mouth.
An elegant Istrian wine expressing its unique, sunlit character. A bottle will cost you a little less than 7 Eur, and you can get it in most of the retailers in Slovenia and Vinakoper’s stores.
