Erzetič - Rebula, 2020
We’re returning to the Erzetič family to have a look at Brda’s queen – Rebula. It’s their organic expression which they craft with attention to preserve its varietal primal aromatic aspect.
Grapes are coming from an almost 20 years old vineyard planted on the upper, east-facing slopes of Brda, with the soil being Opoka.
Bunches are destemmed, crushed and go straight into the pneumatic press. The must is cooled to 8° Celsius overnight and then racked into stainless vats to start fermentation at approximately 15° Celsius temperatures. After the fermentation stops, it is racked and left to mature on fine lees until January, when finally it is filtered and bottled.
This results in a Rebula with crystal clear, strawy yellow colour with a relatively dense texture.
Its intense bouquet reveals green apple, lemon, almond blossom and Hawthorne, with a slight grassy note.
The wine is dry with perceivable softness. Its freshness is pronounced, and its underpinned minerality caresses our palates. It offers the right amount of refreshment and minerality for an elegant, rather full and lasting wine with yellow fruit and grass flavours in the aftertaste.
A wine that is ideal as an aperitive or served with raw fish plates or light dishes with poultry. A bottle will cost you approximately 11 Eur and you can order it at Koželj, Vinoteka Sodček, Spar, Mercator, Zagriz and Mimovrste.
