Let’s return to Marinko Pintar and the consortium of abandoned vineyards that are making great efforts to revive the old vines and craft their reality under the UOU brand in accordance and with deep respect to nature. Tonight we’ll have a look at their Rebula Ivanka, which matured in oak barrels.

Ivanka is the name of lady Ivanka, who owned this vineyard that was planted in 1937. It covers an area of 4,100 square metres, with mostly Malvazija in Rebula. They are planted in Soudan on the slopes under St. Catherine (Kekec) hill at an altitude between 110 and 180 metres above sea level.

Grapes of Rebula are destemmed and crushed. The mash then macerates in open vats with spontaneous fermentation for up to twenty days. It is then gently pressed and racked with fine lees in used oak barrels, where it matures for 16 months. Finally, it is bottled without filtration.

Rebula Ivanka presents with a foggy, amber colour and dense texture. Its bouquet is archaic, intense and indicates maturity. Apple slices, ripe yellow plums, candied orange, straw, white pepper, wood, roasted nuts and dried tobacco.

Its taste is intense, soft, but at the same time with a good amount of acids and tannin that balances the perceptions. The taste is pronounced, full-bodied and with a lasting, elegant aftertaste.

A wine that will easily cope with the next five to seven years and bottle will cost you approximately 28 Eur, and you can order it at Dobro vino, Be Wines, Kletvica and Fina vina.
