Doppler - Doppler Cuvée, 2020
Let’s return to the Kopše family, at their beautiful estate and their wines, crafted and presented under the name Doppler. Tonight we’ll look at their Cuvée, a blend of their white grapes produced with classical procedures.
Doppler’s Cuvée consists of 14 % Silvaner, 4 % Furmint, 35 % Sauvignon, 20 % Welschriesling, 5 % Yellow Muscat and 20 % Riesling, each produced separately and then assembled. Grapes are hand-harvested in vineyards planted at altitudes between 300 and 360 meters above sea level in flysch, clay, and sandstone soils.
Bunches are destemmed and crushed to cold soak at cold temperatures for a couple of hours. After pressing, the must ferments at temperatures between 8 and 20 ° Celsius, with a part fermented in barrique and on fine lees.
Doppler’s Cuvée displays a straw yellow colour with a green hue, reasonably dense and crystal clear.
Intense aromas where we perceive notes of yellow plum, pineapple, yellow grapefruit, white rose, as well as grass, butter and a touch of caramel.
Dry on the palate, soft and reasonably warm. At the same time, fresh and mineral salty. An elegant, medium-bodied with persistency. Flavours of fruit and tropics are joined by scents recalling nutmeg.
