Let’s head to the other side of Brda tonight to taste a different expression of Sauvignon vert, which is produced at the Mavrič family and bottled under the name of Gusto.

We’re at Anita and Danilo Mavrič, and we’re having a look at an expressive wine produced by some quite old vines. The production is classical and follows destemming crushing and gentle pressing with stabilisation of the juice. It is then racked into stainless vats where it ferments and matures until bottling in the following year after harvest.

This results in a crystal clear, strawy yellow wine with relatively dense fluidity.

Its aromas are accentuated. We perceive yellow apple, quince, gooseberry, lemon, thyme and straw.

The wine has an intense taste. We feel a warming effect. It acts soft but at the same time expresses crisp acidity and minerality—a wine with a balanced character. Gusto is a full-bodied and rather persistent wine that will please with its elegance.

It is a wine that is ready for drinking and will keep its shape for the next two to three years, and you can easily accompany over an excellent fish dish. A bottle will cost you approximately 9 Eur, and it’s best to contact the winemaker at +386 41 320 916 or by sending an e-mail to to order it.
