Meum – Chardonnay, 2020

We’re returning to Klokočovnik, to Jurij Brumec and his wines, carefully crafted and presented under the brand Meum. Such as this expression of Chardonnay, crafted to deliver the best that these plots can give.

Bunches are coming from a vineyard laying 400 meters above sea level. Steep, south-facing slopes are planted on marl soil. Actually, you can see the skying track of the FIS championship of Slijeme from this vineyard.

Grapes were hand-harvested with attentive care and selection; sugar levels amounted to 101 °Oe. After destemming, berries were gently pressed. The juice was cooled down and left to clarify overnight. Fermentation started at controlled temperatures, and the wine was left to mature for six months on fine lees with batonnage before bottling.

Meum’s Chardonnay displays a strawy yellow colour with a golden shade.

The bouquet is sophisticated, and we notice yellow apple, pineapple, peach, tangerine, lemon, and notes of almond blossom, butter, bread crust underlined with a delicate note of wet stone.

The taste is dry, reasonably warm, refreshing with a pleasant mineral salinity that lasts. A structured wine of intense flavours and elegance, with a lasting persistency in which flavours of fruit and butter reemerge.
