Brda, the picturesque slopes offering breathtaking views spanning from the Alp mountains to the sea. This is where Movia, a family celebrating over 200 years of winemaking, is home and tonight, and we’ll look at their Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine matured in French barriques.

As in a due manner, all grapes are organically farmed. Hand-harvest is done by hand, and after destemming grapes, berries are placed in vinification tanks where spontaneous fermentation starts. After its finish, the wine with pomace waits for a week before gently pressing the mash and racking the young wine into French barriques, where it matures for the next twenty-four months. Finally, it is bottled without filtration and waits at least six months in the cellar before coming to the market.

Movia’s Cabernet Sauvignon enchants us with a deep, ruby red colour and thick texture as the swirl quickly stops in the glass.

Its aromas are intense, revealing mostly ripe blackberries. Next, we perceive blueberries, black cherries, black currants, plums, violet and rose petals with mint and eucalyptus in the finish hints of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, cloves and a slight touch of smoke.

The wine is dry with softness and reasonable warmth. Refreshing, mineral and with tannins slowly rounding off, leaving the wine with a slightly spicy finish. A Cabernet Sauvignon with an intense taste, vigorous body and expressive elegance. Its lasting aftertaste offers perceptions of blackberries, plums, forest undergrowth and smoke.

A wine with the potential to age and evolve for at least the next seven to ten years, if not even more, as Movia’s wines age exceptionally well. A bottle will cost you approximately 28 Eur, and you can order it at Dobro vino, eVino, Koželj, TripleA, 8wines, Ethica wines, TWDC and Dionizos.
