Movia – Chardonnay, 2020

Time to return to Brda tonight to look at the latest release of one of the most sought after varieties. We’ll be tasting Movia‘s Chardonnay, a wine they are just starting to release to the market, and yours indeed has been lucky enough to get an exclusive look at.

Grapes were hand-harvested and cold-soaked in the press. After gentle pressing, the juice was left to clarify. Then it was racked into oak barrels where spontaneous fermentation kicked in. After eight months of maturation on fine lees, it was bottled without filtration.

This Chardonnay lits the glass with a crystal clear, golden yellow colour and dense texture. We observe slowly slipping tears along the walls of the glass.

Alluring and refined aromas are reminiscent of pineapple slices, quince and yellow apple, lemon zest, honey, yellow rose petals, straw, wild mint, pan brioche, vanilla and almonds.

A dry expression of Chardonnay leaving a soft and reasonably warm touch. It refreshes our palate pleasantly, leaving a mineral touch, with slight astringency resulting in a slightly spicy finish. A wine of nobility, with an adolescent spirit that shows its ageing potential. It boasts a long persistency and an intense, harmonious taste with flavours of apple, quince, lemon zest and butteriness in the finish.

A wine that was produced for longevity. It will please lovers of Chardonnay already now, but it will only improve over the next seven years and further evolve. A bottle will cost you approximately 20 Eur, and as it has only been released, you will find the 2016 vintage still available in most stores, which is still a genuine bargain.
