Silveri – Cuvée Brut Vintage Collection, 2017

We’re returning to the Gašparin family tonight to taste another one of their sparkling wines. We’re looking at their Vintage collection range, and the wine we’re set to taste is the Silveri 2017 Cuvée Brut that combines wines of Rebula and Chardonnay.

Grapes for the basic wine are sourced from three vineyards. 30 % of Rebula comes from the 45 years old vineyard Muško, another 30 % of Rebula come from the 20 years old Gmajna, and the remaining 40 % consists of Chardonnay from the Muško vineyard.

Grapes are directly pressed, and fermentation starts in stainless vats. Secondary fermentation with maturation sur lie in bottles lasts for 48 months before disgorging and its final arrival to the market.

The Cuvée brut presents with a brilliant, strawy yellow colour with a golden hue. Numerous tiny and persistent pearls wind towards the surface.

Intense and elegant aromas reveal a refined ratio between fruitiness and autolytic characteristics. We remark scents of lemon, apple, mango, with yellow roses. They are joined by notes of yeast, butter toast and gentle tones of marzipan.

The taste is intense. We perceive its softness; simultaneously, the play of bubbles and acids refreshes us and leaves us, especially the minerality of the wine. The taste is elegant, full of structure and long persistency.
