It’s time to return to the Ščurek family. I hear works for the new wine cellar have started, and machines are digging into the Opoka and stone. We will taste their Dugo, a Cuvee produced with 14-day maceration and aged in the wood.

Dugo is the name of the vineyard where grapes for this Cuvee are coming from. The assemblage may vary, but typically it is composed of 50 % Rebula, 30 % Chardonnay and 20 % Pinot blanc.

Berries macerate for 14 days in large 2.500-litre oak barrels. After pressing, the young wine is racked into new and used 300 and 500-litre oak barrels where it matures for 20 months on fine lees to be finally bottled without filtration.

Dugo presents with a crystal clear, strawy yellow colour and a dense texture that glows in the glass. I

The nose is intense with pleasing aromas of ripe apple, papaya, mango and Mediterranean herbs. A slight honey scent serves as an overture to the perceptions of sweet spices and butter.

A wine with perceptible softness and warmth, freshness, minerality and a slightly bitter finish stand out. This only indicates his youth. A full-bodied and elegant wine with a lasting aftertaste.

With such a harmonious wine, you can always go with confidence. It will age for the next seven or more years, and a bottle will cost you approximately 23 Eur. You can order it at eVino, Koželj, Mabat-Int, Be wines, Deliz, Vinoteka Vintesa and We Vino.
