It’s been a while since our stop at Pucer z Vrha. So let’s have a look at their expression of the aromatic Yellow Muscat. A wine touched by the sun and caressed by the wind.

We’re at Elvir and Valter Pucer in the village of Nova vas above Dragonja. They are renowned for their Malvazija, but trust me when I say that the Muscat follows their fil rouge. Finesse, intensity and delicacy. Vineyards are planted in a mixture of clay and flysch, just a little above sea level, in the valley of Dragonja and count for almost 40 years.

Bunches are hand-picked, and a lot of care is taken to prevent oxidation. Protective vinification methods are used to allow the variety to shine in its whole aromatic aspect. After short maceration, they transfer the must to ferment in stainless vats with selected yeast. Finally, after months of maturation in stainless vats at controlled temperatures, the wine is bottled without stabilisation.

This results in a crystal clear Yellow Muscat with a golden yellow colour.

Refined and intense aromas evoke white rose, jasmine, dried chamomile, apricot, honey melon, candied citrus, mango, papaya, honey, sultanas, as well as notes of anise and dried rosemary.

The taste is seductive, medium-sweet and soft. Freshness is crisp with a lovely mineral undernote. A balanced, medium-bodied Yellow Muscat with an intense and elegant persistency. A wine in which many lovers of this aromatic variety will enjoy for the next five to seven years.
