It’s time we move to the Gaube family, to Slovenia’s far northeast where the Gaube family crafts expressive, varietal wines with a touch of style. We’ll be looking at their Laški or Welschriesling which is crafted by protective winemaking methods.
We’re at the Gaube family, who owns approximately 9 hectares of vineyards arrownd the hilly slopes of Svečine. Tonight we’re tasting their Welcschrieslin, which is produced from 35-years old vines. The wine is produced following classical, protective methods to emphasize its primal, varietal aromas.
Gaube’s Welschrieslind shows crystalline, strawy yellow colour, with a slight greenish tinge and dense texture.
The bouquet is accentuated and inviting, we perceive white peach, green apple, lime, white rose and slight grassy notes.
A wine with marked by its off-dry taste, softness and at the same time freshness, with a perceptible petilance and mienrality. Intense and elegant, medium bodied with just the right persistency to ask fro another sip.
A bottle will cost you approximately 9 Eur and you can order it at Stara trta or at Polek.
